Sakhalin residents report a serious fire at the thermal power plant GRES-2, APA reports citing Sakhalin.info.
Local residents reported cotton and smoke in the area of the power plant.
According to preliminary data, the fire occurred in the second unit, where the turbogenerator caught fire. There is no information about more detailed reasons for the incident yet. No casualties have been reported.
The employees of the state district power plant are being evacuated, the management of the power plant has arrived at the scene of the fire.
According to the Mash Telegram channel, 14 rescuers are working on the spot - the fire has been extinguished. Part of the load was taken over by CHPP-1.
According to local media, the day before, the second unit with a load of 60 MW was switched off at GRES-2.
“I instructed the Minister of Energy of the Sakhalin Region Mikhail Guzenko to quickly go to the site to assess the situation. I also instructed Deputy Prime Minister Oleg Popov to check all energy sources,” Governor Valery Limarenko said.
