Number of people injure in massive car crash in Volgograd Region grows to five

The number of people injured in the massive car crash in Russia’s Volgograd Region has increased to five, the regional Ministry of Emergency Situations directorate announced Saturday, APA reports citing TASS.

"Five people were injured in the incident, while two died. Firefighting and rescue teams retrieved two injured people from the wreckage," the statement said.

A total of 21 people and 7 vehicles were involved in the elimination of the incident’s aftermath.

Earlier, over six vehicles collided in the Novoanninsky District of the Volgograd Region. According to preliminary information an Infiniti lost control on a slippery stretch of the road and collided with a truck. Two Infiniti passengers died, while the driver is in critical condition. Three medical brigades are currently working at the crash site.

The regional police said that the accident was facilitated by poor weather, as the visibility at that stretch of the highway is currently below 15 meters.
