“The invitations have been sent to 15 international organizations to observe the municipal elections scheduled for 23 December”, said Rovzat Gasymov, Deputy Chairman of Central Election Committee in his statement to journalists today, APA reports.

Deputy Chairman of CEC said the conditions have been created for participation in the capacity of observers of all international organizations and foreign institutions wishing to observe all elections held in Azerbaijan: “Such conditions have been created this time as well. But the observation of municipal elections has a specific feature. This specific feature is that the municipal elections are local elections and therefore the international organizations don’t show quite great interest in observing these elections. The Central Election Committee has sent an appeal to Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of Council of Europe in regard to the local elections because this institution pays attention to local self-governance issues. The CEC has also sent an appeal to election agencies of other foreign countries. The number of such agencies is 15. Currently, we receive certain data in the ordinary course of business. The process will be continued till 10 days prior to the voting day”.
