Azerbaijan-based banks see rise in external borrowing

Baku. Musa Ahmadov – APA-Economics. As of September 1, 2016, total foreign liabilities of Azerbaijan-based commercial banks stood at AZN 6,459,600,000, up AZN 213.4 million or 3.42% from previous year.

Central Bank of Azerbaijan said the external borrowing increased AZN 11.3 million or 0.18% in August.

At the same time, compared to December 2015, banks’ total foreign liabilities decreased AZN 1,774.9 million or 21.27% in August 2016.

At the same time, as of September 1, 2016, banks’ total foreign assets stood at AZN 4,199,400,000, down AZN 243.2 million or 5.47% in comparison to a year earlier. Compared to previous months, total foreign assets decreased AZN 296.7 million or 6.6% in August.
