Arsenal’s preparations for their match against Man City were heavily disrupted by a positive coronavirus test, according to reports, APA reports citing Talksport.

A Gunners player tested positive for the virus and had to self-isolate for seven days in line with government protocols.

The Athletic claim the player had come into close contact with two other team-mates for more than 15 minutes.

It saw those two players enter a 14-day period of quarantine and therefore miss vital training sessions ahead of their return to Premier League action.

Arsenal suspected a ‘false positive’ result as everyone involved in the previous round of testing had showed as negative.

On the weekend before the City clash, Arsenal took private antigen and antibody tests to double-check whether the player had the virus or had contracted it in the past.

Both tests came back negative and all three players took part in the next round of testing and received good news 24 hours later.

It allowed the trio to return to training on Tuesday for the first time in four days.
