IOM: We can ensure technical support for returning IDPs

“We have mutual efficient cooperation with Azerbaijan and it is about not only management of migration, but also about Azerbaijan’s important role in the international arena, the UN, and in the region as well,” said the General Director of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) António Vitorino, APA reports.

According to him, the document signed regarding the regional training center is evidence of this efficient cooperation: “This center will organize training sessions for officials, regional countries by developing skills in the fields of solving migration problems. I am pleased with the partnership with Azerbaijan and I support the programs realized by the government, particularly steps taken in the fight against human trafficking, at the same time returning of the IDPs to their places. So, I look forward to strengthening our cooperation.

We have long-term experience in returning IDPs. This is a gradual process; this should be planned. We can ensure technical support against the background of the problems faced by the Azerbaijani government.”
