Representative of Azerbaijan elected deputy chairman of Quality of Service Fund of Universal Postal Union

As the meetings of the Board of the Quality of Service Fund (QSF) of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) didn’t take place due to COVID-19 pandemic, a part of the issues being on agenda of this event were considered through correspondence, and a video conference was held in the end, the Ministry of Transport, Communication and High Technologies told "APA-Economics".

Azerbaijan was represented at this video-event by the Ministry’s official Nasir Hamidov.

The new projects for improvement of quality of international postal services prepared and submitted to UPU by various countries of the world in the framework of the QSF program were discussed during the event. At the same time, the discussions were conducted in regard to final reports about completed QSF projects in the member-countries’ postal networks, requests about making amendments in the projects, reports about assessment of the completed projects and other documents.

In the end, the elections of chairman and deputy chairman of the Board of the Quality of Service Fund (QSF) of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) for the new tenure were held. 2 candidates from the USA and France were nominated to the position of the chairman of the Board, while 1 candidate from Azerbaijan was nominated to the position of the deputy chairman. According to results of the elections, the representative of the USA Michael George was elected chairman, while the representative of Azerbaijan Nasir Hamidov was elected deputy chairman.

Note that the Board includes representatives of 11 countries from 5 geographical regions of the world (the USA, Azerbaijan, China, India, Switzerland, France, Chile, Egypt, Tunis, Thailand and Russia).
