Novruz Mammadov explains reasons for delay in settlement of NK conflict

According to him, the co-chair countries are preoccupied with their own troubles: “The election process is an important issue in the United States. Such election process is more difficult and gives opportunity to Armenia. The presidents held two meetings this year. Azerbaijan had not taken any responsibility in Vienna. The presidents made statements in Saint Petersburg. I also attended that meeting. I saw Russian president Vladimir Putin demonstrated interest and efforts for settlement of the conflict. We were inspired by this. Putin keeps his word. We were expecting that this will yield a result. However there are certain issues on other side and they have many works. Processes are underway. John Kerry’s statement led to other similar statements. This is not good. If the large countries want to be influential in the world, they must settle the conflicts in the small countries. This will build confidence to them. The large countries cannot be successful in this issue. Any interest prevent reaching agreements. We don’t chair our position. Wide-range discussions will be held in the ministerial meeting in December”.
