Tzipi Livni, who was the Foreign Minister of the State of Israel in 2006-2009, a member of the Board of Trustees of the Nizami Ganjavi International Center sent a letter of congratulation to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the National Leader of the Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev, APA reports.
The letter of congratulation reads:
"Dear President Aliyev,
The role of leaders in defining the nature of relationships between nations is enormous.
When Azerbaijan is commemorating the late President Heydar Aliyev’s 100th birthday, it is time to share his legacy and contribution to the Jewish community in Azerbaijan and his steps that paved the way to the relationship between Azerbaijan and Israel.
Today, Your Excellency is following your father’s steps and spiritual testament and symbolically we are celebrating this year the opening of a new Azerbaijani Embassy in Israel.
The memory of late President Heydar Aliyev and the policy of Your Excellency are highly respected in Israel.
