"We see a "window of opportunity" for achieving a comprehensive peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia and normalization in the region," said US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Karen Donfried at a press conference, APA reports.
He stressed that peace is difficult. Because there has been a conflict in this region for a long time, people have faced tragedy: "Today I visited the Alley of Martyrs and commemorated those who lost their lives during the conflict. Peace is difficult, but we want to help. Because we believe that now there is an opportunity for both countries".
Karen Donfried said they did not know how long the "opportunity window" will be: "We would like to encourage all parties to continue their efforts to achieve peace in the region.
I hope that if we see a successful outcome in the normalization process, it will lead to integration in the region and will be beneficial for the peoples ".
