"One of the global problems and tasks of humanity in modern times is to provide the population with reliable and sustainable food products," said Goshgar Tahmazli, chairman of the Food Safety Agency, said at the event on "Plant Health Innovations for Food Safety," APA reports.
He said that currently, the world countries and different international organizations are doing extensive work to eliminate food shortages and hunger.
"Nevertheless, we should mention that there have been serious increases in the prices of food products in recent years due to the rising prices of energy carriers and production tools, drastic climate change, reduction of water resources, military conflicts, and other negative factors, and food shortages are becoming a real threat."
