The fire that broke out following an explosion at a gas pipeline in Sangachal settlement, Azerbaijan’s Garadagh district on Monday morning has been extinguished, the country’s Ministry of Emergency Situations informed.

A fire erupted after an explosion at a gas pipeline in Azerbaijan on Monday morning, the country’s Ministry of Emergency Situations said Monday.

“A fire broke out after an explosion hit a gas pipeline in Sangachal settlement, Azerbaijan’s Garadagh district on Jan. 2 at about 07:00 a.m. (UTC/GMT+4),” the ministry’s press service told APA.

“A large number of equipment and fire brigades have been dispatched to the scene of the accident,” the ministry said. “The gas supply through the main gas pipeline of 1000 mm diameter has been suspended.”

Fire-fighters managed to localize the fire, efforts are underway to fully extinguish it, added the ministry.

A fire occurred at the same pipeline in Sangachal on Dec. 27, 2016, as a result of which a large fire broke out.
