Organized by the Ministry of Emergency Situations, a group of journalists is getting acquainted with the process of demining around the Khachinchay reservoir and the concrete canal in the village of Gizil Kangarli in Agdam, APA's correspondent reports from Agdam.
Commander of the mine clearing group of the Special Risk Rescue Service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, senior lieutenant Suleyman Heydarov said that along with other government agencies, the forces and means of the Ministry of Emergency Situations were involved in mine clearance. In order to carry out the tasks, demining teams consisting of personnel from the fortification and pyrotechnic units of the Service were formed.
These groups were sent to the region together with the medical evacuation teams of the Civil Defense Troops. Demining teams have been trained in Turkey and provided with international certificates.
Heydarov said that according to the initial task, the area around the Khachinchay reservoir in Agdam and the right and left banks of the concrete irrigation canal separated from the reservoir should be cleaned:
“The groups are currently carrying out this cleaning work. During the implementation of the tasks, along with mines, unexploded ordnance with dangerous potential was found in the area and appropriate measures were taken. At the same time, bombs dropped by air bombs were also found. These are the size of tennis balls and can attract the attention of those in the area."
