“The creation of the statue of Babek has started,” Director of the Production Creative Complex of the Union of Artists of Azerbaijan Baloglan Huseynov told APA.
According to him, the statue is planned to be created in 8-12 months: “The necessary bronze material has already been obtained and the production process has started. However, the production of a statue is not an easy process and it is natural that it takes so long time.”
The director touched upon the height of the monument. He noted that, the height of the statue from ground to the head will be 10 m, while the part to sword will be 12 metres.
“It will be very heavy and splendid monument. The statue of Babek will be one of the highest statues in Caucasus,” B.Huseynov noted.
Note that, president Ilham Aliyev signed a decree in 2011 on erection of the monument of famous Azerbaijani commander Babek in Baku. The author of the statue is People’s artis Arif Gaziyev. The monument will be erected in the avenue named after Babek.
