Three people, including an assailant, were killed and three others wounded when a suicide car bomb rocked a police station in Afghanistan's western province of Herat early Tuesday, the provincial governor confirmed, APA reports citing Xinhua.

"The incident occurred outside police station of Ghoryan district, in the western part of Herat roughly at 2:00 a.m. Tuesday local time," Governor Sayyed Waheed Qatali told Xinhua.

The stricken building also homes a public uprising forces' camp that provides security and protect remote villages and districts around the country where army and police have limited presence.

The killed included two camp members and the terrorist aboard the explosive-laden vehicle, the governor said, adding that one police officer and two uprising forces were also wounded in the explosion.

The force of the blast also damaged the police station and several nearby houses and shops, according to the source.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far. However, Afghan officials blame the Taliban militant group for the bomb explosions in recent months.
