"Turkey and Israel are regional powers. These two countries have ancient historical ties," said Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid said at a joint press conference with his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu, APA reports.

"Turkey is the first Islamic country to recognize Israel as an independent state in 1949," he said.

The Israeli Foreign Minister noted that there had been some turning points in political relations between the two countries in different years: “For the first time in the last 15 years, the Turkish Foreign Minister is visiting Israel. We believe that this visit will lead to the development of our political, diplomatic, and economic relations, and business relations and relations between our peoples will become even closer. Despite the difficulties in our diplomatic relations, our economic relations have always progressed steadily and reached a good level. However, by working well, we can increase our economic cooperation. At today's meeting, we decided to resume the activities of the joint economic commission between the two countries and also start working on a new civil aviation agreement.
The Israeli people love Turkey. There are 10 flights from Israel to Turkey every day, and thousands of Israeli citizens travel to Turkey. They love Turkish culture, music, and tourism.
