Norms on the status of the first president of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, are planned to be excluded from the constitution of the republic, Secretary of State Yerlan Karin wrote about this in his Telegram channel, APA reports citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

The corresponding proposal to the constitutional council was made by members of the working group on the development of amendments to the Constitution.

"Taking into account the proposal of some members of the working group, an additional appeal was sent to the Constitutional Council on the exclusion of the rule regarding the status of the first president. According to members of the working group, the historical role of the first president is well known and does not require separate enshrining in the constitution," he wrote.

On Wednesday, the Constitutional Council gave a positive opinion on the draft amendments to the country's Constitution, initiated by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
