SOCAR to attend tender for construction of underground gas storage facility in Georgia

The Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation (GOGC) has announced a tender for the construction of the first underground gas storage facility on the territory of Samgori South Dome oil field, APA reported citing Business Georgia.

Earlier, Mahir Mammadov, head of SOCAR Georgia said that Azerbaijan will join the tender for the construction of an underground gas storage facility in Georgia.

The first stage of the tender provides for the prequalification process, within which GOGC will select a group of contractors with relevant experience and financial capabilities. Companies that passed into the second stage have to submit commercial proposals in accordance with the terms of reference.

According to GOGC, the construction of an underground gas storage facility will be commenced in the first half of 2018. At the first stage of the construction, two appraisal wells will be drilled, and the technical parameters of the storage will be specified after obtaining additional geological information.
