Association of Friends of Azerbaijan functioning in France has commented on statement about Garabagh of Russian and French presidents being co-chairs of OSCE Minsk Group, the State Committee on Work with Diaspora told APA.

It was noted in the statement disseminated with signature of president of the Association, honorary member of parliament Jean Francois Mansel that the co-chairs have called for full suspension of military operations in Garabagh and declared their readiness for activation of diplomatic efforts in order to help to settlement of the conflict.

It was stated that extremely much time was required for the Minsk group co-chairs to understand seriousness of situation in Nagorno Garabagh and impossibility of eternal freezing of the 30 years’ conflict.

Jan Francois Mansel thinks for fair settlement of the conflict, it is necessary that firstly Armenia confesses that it illegally occupied 20 percent of the Azerbaijani lands, and liberates those lands prior to adoption and implementation of the measures important for peaceful coexistence: "At the same time, Russia shouldn’t use Armenia as a means of pressure on Azerbaijan, France should stand away from the Armenian community. Emmanuel Macron and Vladimir Putin have taken their first steps. We welcome this as a hope. But they shouldn’t forget: now or never".
