“The strategic partnership with Ukraine will not be reconsidered”, said David Zalkaliani, Georgia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, APA’s local bureau reports.

He said these two countries have a number of similar challenges such as the occupation of territories of Ukraine and Georgia, the Euro-Atlantic integration, and the common position in GUAM.

The head of the MFA noted that the decision of the Ukrainian side has caused emergence of a number of problems, and the need has arisen to conduct serious discussions with the ambassador in order to clarify these problems. D. Zalkaliani noted that the process of return of the ambassador Tornike Sharashenidze to Ukraine will not take much time.

Remind that the appointment by Ukraine of the former president of Georgia, the former governor of Odessa oblast Mikheil Saakashvili to the position of chairman of Executive Committee of Ukraine’s National Reforms Council on May 8 was met with protest by the Georgian government. In this connection, Georgia’s ambassador to Ukraine T. Sharashenidze was recalled for political consultations.
