An explosion at the plant of Bulgarian arms manufacturer Arsenal in Kazanlak has killed three people and injured another three, APA reports citing Bulgarian public broadcaster BNT.

The blast occurred shortly after 11 a.m. at a pyrotechnics storage facility at the plant, public television BNT reported.

BNT quoted caretaker economy minister Nikola Stoyanov as saying that it is too early to talk of the causes of the accident and that the ministry has offered any assistance required to Arsenal's owner.

The three injured individuals, of which one woman with burns, have been hospitalised, according to the report.

Kazanlak-based Arsenal's main activities include the design, manufacturing and trade of small arms and artillery pieces, hunting and sport weapons, and ammunition.
