One of the main competitors to lead the next British government, foreign secretary Liz Truss, insisted on Wednesday that Beijing should de-escalate tensions with Washington following the visit made by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to Taiwan, APA reports citing Teletrader.

"I do not support China's inflammatory language on this issue. It's perfectly reasonable what is taking place, and I urge China to de-escalate," Truss told reporters as Pelosi left the island earlier today, with all eyes on China's possible answers to the visit.
