FIMSA: Electricity cut caused some problems in banking sector

Banks have emergency situations plan which includes measures to ensure sustainable operation of bank and prevent risks to arise in emergency situations. According to this plan, responsible persons are assigned to restore operation suspended in the emergency situations, head of press service at the Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FIMSA) Elshan Alahverdiyev told APA-Economics.

He said that electricity cut did affect the banking sector seriously: ‘Moreover, most of banks have generators, UPS. Consequently, there was not serious problem in business security’.

He also noted that there are some problems in banks: ‘Generators of some banks overworked and this caused interruptions in several services. In connection with this situation, a headquarters was created at FIMSA and took control over application of action plan. As a result of coordination, uninterrupted operation of services has been ensured’.
