Capitalization of the banking system in Azerbaijan should have increased, Moody’s told APA-Economics.
‘Following completion of IBA restructuring and its recovered capital adequacy, total capitalization of the banking system should have increased as IBAs still has a significant market share of around 27% by assets. However, capitalization of small private banks is still under pressure given high credit costs and fx risks. In addition, further possible tightening of regulation could require additional recapitalization by banks’, the agency said.
