Cristiano Ronaldo has asked Manchester United to terminate his contract, allowing him to leave the club on a free transfer, APA reports citing Daily Mail.
The Red Devils legend is desperate to leave Old Trafford this summer to join a team that competes in the Champions League.
However, United has no intention of cashing in on the Portuguese star and insists he will spend the final year of his £360,000-a-week contract.
There are reports that they want him to extend his current deal for another year – in which case they have let him go on loan this season.
But Ronaldo is reported to have asked the club to terminate his current contract so he can pursue a move to a team that competes in Europe’s elite competition.
