Elkhan Mammadov: “111 thousand tickets bought by foreign citizens for games to be held in Baku”

“Final stage of the European Championship will be held in a different format – in 12 cities for the first and last time. It was related to the 60th anniversary of the UEFA”, said Executive Vice President of the AFFA Elkhan Mammadov at international conference entitled “Benefits of hosting major sport events for the country”, held in Baku Convention Center, Apa sport reports.

Association official has spoken about benefits of hosting 3 games of group stage of Euro-2020, to be held in our country in June of this year: “The UEFA has focused on North-western and Central Europe for organizing Euro-2020. However with support of our state our initiative has become successful. The UEFA decided on Baku’s representation of this region. There was a great calling for UEFA too. Because holding the tournament in 12 cities within 30 days is very difficult. That is why local Organization Committee has a great responsibility. We have being prepared for just 2 year. Main point is that we will use our previous experience in these events. Infrastructure is ready. In comparison with other cities, all was ready in our country from this point of view. 111 thousand tickets have already been bought by foreign citizens.”
