We are committed to the development of priority areas of bilateral relations with Azerbaijan, such as security, economic growth, democracy, and human rights, said Karen Donfried, U.S Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs during the hearing held in the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, APA reports.

She stated that Azerbaijan responded quickly to the September 11 attacks and provided financial and military support to US operations in Afghanistan: "Azerbaijan took an early step by providing financial and military assistance. It contributed to the security of Afghanistan's Kabul International Airport until its withdrawal in 2021. One of our national security priorities is security cooperation with Azerbaijan."

She added that cooperation with Azerbaijan in this field strengthens the security of the energy infrastructure of the Caspian Sea.

"We welcome Azerbaijan's growing support for Europe's energy security," Donfried said.
