All wildfires in southeast Siberia’s Trans-Baikal region have been extinguished, said the Russian Emergencies Ministry’s press service, ONAreports citing TASS.

"All fires in 14 settlements have been extinguished," the press service said.

Meanwhile, a source in the ministry’s local office told that the number of injured in Trans-Baikal wildfires had risen to 25 people.

"According to the latest data, 25 people have been injured, two of them are in a grave condition," the source said, adding that "there are no children among them."

A series of wildfires that have been burning in southern and southeastern areas of Russia’s Trans-Baikal Region, affected 14 settlements over the past 24 hours.

According to the information provided by local authorities, the fire destroyed 107 buildings, of which 88 are residential houses.

Emergency Ministry attributes the wildfires to unfavorable weather conditions, such as strong winds and a sudden spell of unnaturally warm weather which occurred when lakes and rivers were still covered by ice. The wind subsided recently, and the air is getting colder.
