Japan allocates USD 1.2 mln. humanitarian assistance for Azerbaijan

Japanese Government has adopted a decision on allocation of an emergency grant to Azerbaijan in the amount of USD 1.2 mln. on the humanitarian crisis, as a result of armed conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia, Japan Embassy to Azerbaijan told APA.

It is grant assistance aimed at improvement of life condition including restoration of damaged and evacuated territories, support to the medical field, presentation of assistance equipment based on the assistance appeal, addressed to the international community by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the World Food Programme (WFP), and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).

Assistance considered in this grant have been noted below in detail:

Assistance regarding the medical facilities to a leading hospital;

Provide access to safe water sources for approximately 500 people;

Restoration of temporary shelters for about 6400 people and provide auxiliary supplies in order to fight against cold weather;

Implementation of food assistance for about 8000 people.
