"The war between Azerbaijan and Armenia was widely covered in the world media, unfortunately, not always objectively. Regarding the nature, history of the conflict and what was the essence of the problem, unfortunately, we often came across distorted, inaccurate or biased information. Nevertheless, thanks to our efforts, including efforts related to information support of the situation, we managed to reverse the negative background that has developed over the years in relation to Azerbaijan and convey the truth to the world communities," said Ilham Aliyev, President of Azerbaijan at meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State, APA reports.

“The results of the war are known. Azerbaijan won a victory over the occupying country, which for many years kept under occupation a significant territory of our land, an internationally recognized territory. As a result of the war, according to our data, over 80 percent of the potential of the Armenian armed forces was destroyed. For Azerbaijan it is a war - Patriotic, Liberation, and for Armenia it is a war of conquest, occupation,” he said.

The President recalled that in the early 90s of the last century, Armenia occupied about 20 percent of the internationally recognized territory of Azerbaijan, including Nagorno-Karabakh and seven other regions, both in Nagorno-Karabakh and beyond, and in Armenia, ethnic cleansing was carried out against the Azerbaijani population. As a result, 1 million out of 8 million of the then population of Azerbaijan ended up in the position of migrants. The occupied territories of Azerbaijan were completely destroyed, ethnic cleansing was carried out against the Azerbaijani population”.
