The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is closely following media reports in this regard, Ilaha Huseynova, head of the Communication Department of the ICRC Azerbaijan Delegation, told APA when asked to comment on reports concerning Azerbaijani citizen Elnur Huseynzade.
She said the ICRC is willing to visit the detainee in accordance with its mandate in order to monitor the detention conditions and treatment towards him in case the information is verified.
Earlier, the Armenian side said it had taken captive Azerbaijani soldier Elnur Huseynzade, whereas the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry refuted the claim, saying Elnur Huseynzade had been discharged from the army a while ago.
