Today, the Nagorno Karabakh conflict is the cornerstone of Azerbaijan’s foreign and domestic policy, said Turkish ambassador to Azerbaijan Erkan Ozoral, APA reports.

He made the remarks Feb.25 at the presentation ceremony of the books “Khojaly genocide: causes, consequences and international recognition” and “Stages of the policy of ethnic cleansing and genocide against Azerbaijanis” by Azerbaijani President's Aide for Public and Political affairs, professor Ali Hasanov published in 8 languages (Azerbaijani, Turkish, Russian, English, French, German, Arabic and Chinese).

He noted that though the Armenians are said to start committing crimes in Nagorno-Karabakh from the late 80s of the last century, in fact these crimes date back to ancient times. “The same things happened in 1905, 1918, 1920 and 1953 too. This is a part of the policy which targets all Turks and intends to establish “Greater Armenia”. All the time, external forces have tried to weaken us. And we saw its worst manifestation in Khojaly 25 years ago. Those accusing us of genocide still try to hide the trace of the crimes they committed and the Khojaly events. However, the whole world saw everything. The perpetrators of the Khojaly tragedy are still free walking among us and holding high posts in Armenia”, said the ambassador.
