WHO: Most of death cases at age of 30-70 being caused by non-communicable diseases

“Non-communicable diseases are among the diseases, mostly causing death, in the world”, Representative of World Health Organization in Azerbaijan Hande Harmanci said while her speech at the II National Conference on “Share of non-communicable diseases and fighting strategies”.

According to her, most of the death cases at the age of 30-70 are caused by non-communicable diseases: “These death cases can be prevented. Main point is working together. While talking on non-communicable diseases, the first two of them are heart attacks and stoke. Their reasons are generally, high salt consumption, inactivity, obesity, and smoke. All of us know that if we are able to prevent risks, we can reduce death cases at the age of 30-70.”

She noted fight against these problems is not work of only the Ministry of Health: “If there is a necessity, various bodies should come together in order to reduce salt consumption.”
