Health ministry: Currently, there is no confirmation of the spread of the new strain of Omicron in Azerbaijan

Specialist-expert of the Ministry of Health, infectious disease specialist Tayyar Eyvazov has commented on the spread of "Omicron XBB.1.5" new strain of the coronavirus spread in about 30 countries of the world, Azerbaijan’s Health Ministry told APA.

According to the ministry, currently, there is no confirmation of the spread of the new strain of Omicron in Azerbaijan.

“Though this variant of the virus mainly creates mild, uncomplicated disease cases, we recommend people who are not immune to coronavirus or have weakened immunity for various reasons, including those with severe chronic diseases and the elderly to be careful. Therefore, the population, especially those belonging to the risk group, are advised not to lose vigilance, reduce close contacts as much as possible and complete vaccination,” said the ministry official.
