Former Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani apologized on Wednesday to the Afghan people for allowing the Taliban to take over the country, APA reports citing Teletrader.

Ghani also denied allegations that he took large amounts of money as he escaped from Afghanistan, calling for an official investigation and audit under the watch of the United Nations to prove his innocence.

Lastly, Ghani asserted that his commitment to the Afghan people "has never wavered," as the country faces internal strifes on the formation of the new interim Taliban government.
