An-28 passenger plane with 17 people on board goes missing over Siberia

The plane disappeared from radar in the Bakcharsky district of the Tomsk region, according to emergency services, APA reports citing Sputnik.

An An-28 plane carrying 17 passengers has gone missing over central Russia, a source in local emergency services told RIA on Friday.

According to the source, Federal Air Transport Agency helicopters are carrying out a search for the SiLa Airlines plane. The circumstances of the incident remain unclear.

The aircraft disappeared in the Bakcharsky district of the Tomsk region, the source added.

Earlier this month, an An-26 aircraft flying from the city of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky crashed, killing all 28 people on board. It is believed to have collided with a cliff due to poor visibility.
