Deputy Executive Secretary of Azerbaijan’s ruling New Azerbaijan Party, MP Siyavush Novruzov called on relevant agencies to be careful in issuing visas to foreign tourists.
Addressing today’s parliamentary meeting, Novruzov said that it is wrong to issue a tourist visa for every visitor to the country, APA reported.
“We are witnessing what’s happening in the world. We must be careful about it. Hotels should pay attention to security. Furthermore, 5 to 10 people come to Azerbaijan as tourists and rent an apartment here. No one knows their intention. The owner of the apartment doesn’t even ask for the copy of their ID cards,” he said.
Novruzov also dropped remarks on the advertisement of “Halal hotel”.
“Now they declare that such and such hotels are ‘halal’. But does that make other ones ‘haram’? Now there is a matter of “Halal hotel”, like halal sausages. We can’t allow destabilization of the socio-political situation in our country for 5 or10 manats,” he said.
Vice-speaker Ziyafat Asgarov also noted that more vigilance is needed for security against possible threats from tourists.
