“The expansion of role of parliamentarians and parliaments in international relations coincides with the “cold war”, said Mustafa Sentop, Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (GNAT) in his speech at the 9th plenary session of Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic Countries (TurkPA) held in Baku, APA reports.

“The competition between the global forces, the division of the world into two poles have been eliminated with termination of the “cold war”, the world has already started to search for a new order”, he added.

M. Sentop said it had been revealed that the “cold war” policy and the institutions established as a result of that policy didn’t serve for people’s welfare: “Such institutions as the UN Security Council have turned into the institutions which serve for interests of of hegemonial states, act from double standards, and can’t see regional problems with eyes of regional peoples".
