During the Free Discussions at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Azerbaijani MP Ganira Pashayeva has called on the PACE to put pressure on Armenia to release Azerbaijani hostages Dilgam Asgarov and Shahbaz Guliyev, APA reports.
G. Pashayeva stated that in spite of the efforts of Azerbaijan and the calls of the Secretary General of the Council of Europe Jagland, there is still no positive progress towards the release of Dilgam Asgarov and Shahbaz Guliyev:
“Armenian state continues to hold Dilgam Asgarov and Shahbaz Guliyev hostage. They are oppressed, suffered and their health is very severe. These people have no offense. They just went to visit their displaced homes and graves of their family members. But the state of Armenia has been oppressing these people for many years. Attending meetings and events in our Assembly for several days, Dilgam Asgarov’s son asks to extend the efforts of the Council of Europe and the Parliamentary Assembly to stop torture on his father in Armenia and to release him. Dilgam Asgarov’s and Shahbaz Guliyev's family and relatives wait for greater efforts from the Council of Europe for their release soon. As a representative of the Azerbaijani state, I urge you, our Assembly to protest the Armenian state, government and to put pressure on them to release Dilgam Ahmadov and Shahbaz Guliyev. We expect serious support of the PACE for the release of these hostages."
