Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Azerbaijan has commented on non-holding a meeting between Azerbaijani-Armenian Foreign Ministers in Stockholm.

Head of Press Service of the MFA Leyla Abdullayeva said as a response to APA's query:

"As you know, the 28th meeting of Ministerial Council of the OSCE was held in Stockholm on December 2-3 and Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister participated at the meeting.

Before the meeting, Minsk Group co-chairs made a suggestion on holding the next meeting of Azerbaijani and Armenian Ministers in Stockholm. It is known that Azerbaijan is always in favor of dialogue and the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister brought Azerbaijan's position on the issues in the direction of normalization of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations during the post-conflict period to the attention of the opposite side in New York, Minsk, and Paris meetings earlier. However, the Armenian side committed a provocation a few hours before the considered meeting on December 3. Thus, information was spread on illegal visit to Armenian MPs to the territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Thus, as a response to the provocation of Armenia, the Azerbaijani side did not consider it expedient to hold a meeting of Ministers of two countries in Stockholm. As it is shown, although the Azerbaijani side takes steps in the direction of normalization of relations between two countries, Armenia continues its military-political provocations. Such position of Armenia damages peace-building efforts in the region."
