“After two previous doses of the vaccine, the third (booster) dose is injected as a reminder so that the amount of antibodies in the immune system does not drop,” Head of the Working Group on Infectious Diseases under the Azerbaijani Management Union of Medical Territorial Units (TABIB) Vasif Aliyev told APA.
He noted that the booster dose is injected 6 months after the second dose of the vaccine because after some time the protection decreases: “A booster shot is used to keep the body immune to the coronavirus. There are many people in Azerbaijan who get the booster shot. The 3rd dose of the vaccine has no side effects”
According to V. Aliyev, the third dose is not different: "It is given only to increase the protection of the vaccine."
