Number of drug users over the age of 65 and minors in Azerbaijan announced

"Currently, the number of registered drug users is 33 thousand 788. This is the statistics for the end of 2020. This year's statistics will be announced in January next year,” said Orkhan Jafarov, Director General of the Republican Narcology Center of the Ministry of Health, APA reports.

He said that drug users over the age of 65 are also registered in the country: “207 drug users over the age of 65 are registered in Azerbaijan. There has been an increase in the number of drug users recently. There are cases of drug use among minors. Although the number of minors in the statistics is 9, this does not reflect the full statistics. Often drug users do not seek treatment.”
