Fire in Sumgait Ethylene-Polyethylene plant extinguished, 7 injured - UPDATED-2 - PHOTO

Ministry of Emergency Situations of Azerbaijan has disseminated information on the extinguishing fire which occurred in Ethylene-Polyethylene Plant of SOCAR's Azerkimya Production Association in Sumgait, APA reports citing the website of the Ministry.
In the gas processing area of the plant with a total area of 1,200 m2, fuel residues have burned inside the gas cleaning column. Other equipment, communication lines, and nearby production areas have been protected from the fire.
The fire has been extinguished by fire protection units.
During the fire 7 employees of the plant have been taken in a hospital with various injuries.
The investigation is underway by relevant bodies.

The 112 hotline of the Ministry received information about that fire has broken out in Ethylene-Polyethylene Plant of SOCAR's Azerkimya Production Association in Samad Vurgun street in Sumgait.
The fire protection units of the Ministry's State Fire Protection Service were involved in the scene.
As a result of urgent measures, the fire was localized.
Currently, firefighting work is underway.
The fire has broken out in Sumgayit Ethylene-Polyethylene Plant of SOCAR's Azerkimya Production Association, the head of the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations Gulchin Mehdiyeva told APA.
As a result of the measures taken, the fire was prevented from spreading to a large area. The fire is being localized.
Work is underway to completely extinguish the fire.
According to the information obtained by APA, seven people were injured in the fire.
