United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken reaffirmed the administration's opposition to normalizing relations with Syria during his discussion with Jordan's Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, APA reports citing Teletrader.
"Secretary Blinken made clear that the United States will not normalize relations with the Assad regime and does not support others normalizing until there is authentic, UN-facilitated political progress in line with UN Security Council Resolution (UNSCR) 2254," the States Department noted in a press release.
The statement comes hours after Safadi told CNN he believes the Arab League will vote to reinstate Syria's membership in this organization 12 years since suspending it in response to the civil war in Syria that began in early 2011
