Iran wants to expand cooperation with Azerbaijan in oil field

“We are conducting discussions with the Azerbaijani side for cooperation in oil fields in the Caspian Sea,” General Director of the National Iranian Oil Company Mohsen Khojasteh told APA’s Tehran correspondent.

According to him, investigations are underway, however, have not been implemented yet.

M. Khojasteh spoke about the policy of National oil company of Iran: “We should increase cooperation with other countries too.”

M. Khojasteh stated that they are holding discussions with Azerbaijan not only about oil fields in the Caspian Sea but also generally, developing the cooperation. General director said about the exchange of Turkmen gas to Azerbaijan through Iran that this step is strategic and valuable step: “We purchase gas from Turkmenistan, one part of gas was used by us, and another part is handed over to Azerbaijan. It is an indicator of Iran’s geopolitical position and potential for transit.

He also stated that after lifting sanctions, they are ready to double oil export.
