Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian visited Moscow for talks with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov, highlighting the revival of the 2015 nuclear deal, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), as a key discussion point, APA reports citing BNN.

Based on the local sources, the Iranian foreign minister emphasized that the window for dialogue remains open and that both nations’ top diplomats will negotiate the return of signatories to the JCPOA commitments.

Amirabdollahian praised Russia’s role in facilitating the new round of talks between Iran and the P4+1 group, held over several months in Vienna, Austria. He acknowledged Russian officials’ ongoing efforts to help return the signatories to the JCPOA to their commitments.

In response to the United States’ concerns over Russia-Iran defense cooperation, Amirabdollahian noted that Moscow and Tehran’s defense collaborations are a natural aspect of their partnership and are not aimed against any third party.

The Iranian foreign minister was greeted by the deputy director general of the Asia Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry and Iran’s Ambassador to Moscow Kazem Jalali at the Vnukovo International Airport in the Russian capital.
