Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Saturday his government will swiftly and strongly respond to the shooting near a Jerusalem synagogue that left seven people dead on Friday, APA reports citing Teletrader.

"We are not seeking an escalation, but we are prepared for any scenario," Netanyahu told his cabinet. However, it was later revealed that Israel plans to expand gun permits for civilians to defend against attacks in the streets.

Israel sent more military troops into the West Bank following a Saturday shooting in which a 13-year-old Palestinian boy injured two Israelis before getting shot. The accidents took place as United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken prepares to visit Israel on Monday.
