Western Australia's (WA) Premier Mark McGowan stated that the state is "the most affordable and successful place to live," in the country, according to a report published by WA's Department of Treasury that found that Perth was the most affordable of the country's major capital cities due to "the availability of affordable housing and low mortgage repayments," APA reports citing Teletrader.

The report indicated that Perth has the lowest average household spending on goods and services, including housing costs, among the larger capitals, with Perth spending 10% less than Melbourne, 19% less than Brisbane, and 24% less than Sydney. In addition, salaries were higher in Perth than in other State capitals.

"Throughout the pandemic, thousands of people have moved west, incentivized by our safe handling of the pandemic, the economic opportunities on offer, and our great lifestyle," underscored the premier, emphasizing that "not only do we have one of the best performing economies but also significantly lower living costs than other major Australian cities."
