President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said that not a single case of coronavirus infection had been detected in the country and ordered to intensify preventive measures, sayd Turkmen state news agency TDH, APA reports.

“Now we can say that as a result of such large-scale work in Turkmenistan, no cases of coronavirus infection have been identified. But we must not relax, as today in many countries new strains of this dangerous infection are appearing, in particular "omicron". The ways of its spread from one country to another are known. This happens by moving people and goods across state borders, ”the Turkmen leader said on Tuesday at a meeting with the participation of the Secretary of the State Security Council - Deputy Chairman of the State Emergency Situations Commission and heads of customs and migration services.

According to the agency, the meeting considered steps to prevent the import of coronavirus, in particular the omicron strain, in Turkmenistan "through people and goods crossing the country's border", after which Berdimuhamedov gave members of the State Security Council "a number of specific instructions in order to intensify the preventive measures ".
