In the first semester of this year, the losses of the worldwide tourism sector made up $ 460 bln., APA-Economics reports.
The information in this regard was disseminated by the World Tourism Organization of the UN.
It was stated that the losses occurred as a result of a decrease in international travels because of restrictions applied due to the coronavirus pandemic.
WTO says that in the reporting period, international travels worldwide decreased by 65%. And the Asian and Pacific Ocean countries sustained the largest blow. Thus the movement of tourists to this destination decreased by 72%. The travels to Europe decreased by 66%, to the USA – by 55%, to the Middle East countries – by 57%.
